EVERYTHING SEEMS CRAZY.... (5 min read)
UNTIL IT’S NOT. The other day a song came on, Remember When by Alan Jackson and it got me thinking. This song is about a love story, from when they first met till the days of growing old. Beautifully written by one of the greats in country music. Well I have a new “remember when” to tell you about. Fast forward about 5 years in the future......
Remember when we used to shake hands when we met new people or just to say hello upon introductions
Remember when we could leave the house with out masks
Remember when we could go see our friends and loved ones get married in person
Remember when you’d go shopping in a store and not just order from amazon
Remember when we could travel the world freely
Remember when you used to work in a big office building with all your coworkers, now we just work from home and Skype
Remember when you could go to a sporting event and watch the game LIVE
Remember when cars burned a thing called gasoline ⛽️
Remember when you could see someone smile at you, now you watch for the squint in there eyes from behind a mask.
Remember when your kids would go to school and learn.
Life changes as it always does. All these changes seemed just as strange as life before internet, no cell phones only using a corded telephone with a 50 foot handset line, renting movies from BlockBuster Video and using dirty cash to pay for things. All these new “remember when” moments are coming our way will change life as we know it.
I remember when I got my first blackberry, like it was yesterday. For those of you that don’t know, a blackberry is a cell phone that had data and internet. I remember talking to my mom and saying
I thought it was a ludicrous idea. Well it wasn’t long before I thrived on it. Now I couldn’t imagine life not being able to fax, email, read blueprints, get customers to instantly approve change orders ect on this little hand held device. Also get this, this little computer device is also a phone.
