HAPPY FATHERS DAY (7min read)

Well I thought about doing a Father’s Day post, I thought long and hard.... that’s what she said🤣. All kidding aside, what would I write? Yes we know that he was kind of a big asshole. Not compassionate or caring at all. But you know, it wasn’t all bad. So in my normal fashion, let’s look at some positives.

My dad loved my hockey as much as I did, he allowed me to take hockey schools every summer, sometimes even 3. He drove me to all my 5 am practices and came to all my games. He was even a coach a few times, even though he could not skate very well. He was also a manger on a few of my teams. Always drove me to all the WHL tryouts and training camps. When I was going to play for the Victoria Cougars of the WHL he was going to rent my mom and I an apartment so I could play there because I really wanted my mommy there as I was a huge momma’s boy 😊❤️

He bought me my first car, nothing special but it got me from point A to B. He encouraged me to work and have a job at a convenient store that enabled me to save a little bit and get a truck worth a couple thousand more, which he helped with as well. My dad helped me with my first business, and showed me how to run it. He did my book keeping and taxes for 10 years. Any questions I had he was always there to answer them, even if I didn’t want to hear some of the answers. If I needed a loan for the business he would give it to me interest free from his line of credit.

I remember watching all the home improvement television shows with my dad on Saturday’s and learning how to do things from a young age. I would go to work with him and walk around like I was a big shot too, after we would go for breakfast, just the two of us. Then come home to watch out renovation tv.

In Jr high and High School I would stay home Friday & Saturday Nights while most of my friends were at parties, drinking them selves stupid. My dad, mom and I would watch movies and eat popcorn. Some times play games.

One of my fondest memories as a child is when my dad, mom and I would grab ice cream at Dairy Queen. We would eat the ice cream and drive around for over an hour looking at big fancy houses. We would also go look at show homes on the weekends just to browse and look around. They never bought but just looked.

So it looks like I had some good times with my dad, I guess it’s all perspective and how you choose to look at something. I can see my dad in two lights. 1- the asshole father, 2-a father who was not to bad. Today being it is Father’s Day, I’ll choose number two and remember the good.

Thank you for everything you taught me dad and even some of the things you didn’t mean to teach me. ❤️

Thank you for reading ❤️ Until the next one
