YOU CAN DO IT (7 min read)
Before April 10 2020 I never would have dreamed I’d be blogging? If people were betting on it in Vegas the odds would have paid very handsomely. I was someone who hated writing in school, hated isnt the right word ?! Hummm let’s say HATED, DESPISED ... LOATHED ! That’s it, I loathed writing. There was truly nothing I loathed more than English class.
A year previous I joined Twitter to keep up with XRP news and gossip. I learned even more than I expected from all the twitter peeps. Then rolls around Coil and the talk between the XRP community shifted to Coil. I had no clue what web monitizeation was ? Micro payments I sort of knew, again I joined XRPTipBot to support the community. So I joined Coil to support XRP and fellow XRP community members, But what happend next really surprised me.
I was enjoying reading all the posts. Let me remind you, I don’t read, I loathed reading as well. I still remember the first book I read since high school, Lee and I were on holidays in Los Cabo’s maybe 4-5 years ago. We were in our cabana and Lee finished this book, so I decided to read it. I watched 90210 when I was younger so thought, why not I’ll give it a read. Still a very strange read for me but, to my surprise, I actually really enjoyed Jennie Garth’s auto biography.
Then I shelved my reading, not sure why, there is always so much to do that reading seemed like a “if I have nothing else to do” kind of activity. Along came Coil. I was reading all the great articles in silence, by that I mean I rarely would re-post them to twitter or engage with people that much. I was here for XRP and that was it.
On the night of April 10 I was a man possessed and wrote out my first article Published on April 12 2020 JERRY! JERRY! JERRY! I really enjoyed it. I felt alive, so I posted it and got a warm welcome in to this Coil Community. Everyone was really encouraging and offered help, which I needed and still do. I have so much to learn. The Coil community is really awesome and supportive, I don’t know if I’ve seen a more supportive group of people who have never met and stationed all over the world. All of us share a common goal of success for Coil, also XRP ❤️
I never understood in high school how the teacher would say “Reading and writing go hand in hand. The more you read, the better your writing will become.”
“Pfffttt, what does she know”
Well as it turns out she knew a lot, I guess that’s why she was the English teacher and I was a know it all high school kid. I’m finding how much I really enjoy writing as an outlet, it feels good to get my writing down on paper, so to speak.
“Ok Gord, would you get to the F@CKING point of this post already!”

So I will say this, If your on the fence about writing I say DO IT!! Give it a try. You loose nothing by trying, what’s the worst that can happen ? Well that’s not entirely true, if you don’t try then you loose the opportunity to be part of something great. If you currently blog but not sure where to post to. I really suggest Coil, great platform in the early stages and this you get in early on a growing community. The Coil staff and Coil creators are so helpful if you have any questions. Recently I started doing a Shop Saturday series on Cinnamon Video, last Saturday was my first actually. I really enjoy the production side of this new endeavour. Maybe blogging isn’t your thing but videos are ? So if your posting on You Tube, I suggest trying out Cinnamon.
